The Khufu Pyramid - King of the Pyramids

The Khufu Pyramid was built by Khufu, the son of Sneferu and Hetepheres . Khufu lived during the 4th Dynasty . He had the Khufu Pyramid built from 2551 BC to 2528 BC.
Khufu Pyramid is thought to be largest building built during ancient times. It was the largest building in the world for over 3,800 years! The Lincoln Cathedral in England, built around 1,300 was the first building ever built that was bigger than Khufu Pyramid! Over 2.3 million blocks of stone were used to build the pyramid, with each of them weighing 2.5 million tons! The pyramid is 481 feet tall and the length at the base is is 756 feet.

One of the most interesting things about the pyramid that we found was that he had a Khufu ship made to carry him to heaven with the Sun God Ra. The ship is now in a special museum at the Khufu Pyramid. It is the first time that I have ever heard of a ship being made that was never going to go in the water!

Elenas school Pyramid project

This website is part of a school project. I live in England near Oxford.

I am 8 years old and my school project is to make a brochure about one of the Egyptian Pyramids. We are learning all about ancient Egypt right now in History.

Together with my Dad, we have been looking on the web at a lot of different pyramids. We have learned about where they are, how they were built, who built them, how big they are and who is buried there.

After looking at lots of pictures and reading about a lot of the Egyptian pharaohs, I chose the largest of the Giza Pyramids, Khufu, for my project.

Have you ever been to Egypt?

Have you ever seen the Khufu Pyramid?

Either way, have a look at my site and enjoy!
